The Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off made its triumphant return to Frerichs Farm in Warren, Rhode Island on Saturday, October 12, bringing with it a day packed with colossal pumpkins, mouthwatering food trucks and family-friendly fun.

The event kicked off at 9 a.m., with the main attraction – the official pumpkin weigh-off –taking place at noon.

Last year’s champion pumpkin set a nearly unbeatable bar, weighing in at a staggering 2,465.5 lbs. This year, Steven Sperry claimed the top spot with his 2,237.5 lb. pumpkin, proving that the competition for growing these giants remains fierce.

Not far behind was Ron Wallace, whose pumpkin tipped the scales at 2,207 lbs.

Nichole Kearney took home a prize for being the first to correctly guess the weight closest to Wallace’s pumpkin, predicting 2,200 lbs. and winning herself a gift certificate to Frerichs Farm.

Families were treated to a wide range of free activities, including a corn maze, pirate ship and western-themed play areas. The Pumpkin Ride and Dragon Ride provided thrills for the more adventurous, while live music set a lively atmosphere.

Local food trucks such as Alainas, BerrySweets, Blount Clam Shack, Friskie Fries and The Perky Turkey (just a couple to name out of the bunch) kept attendees well-fed throughout the day.
