A research vessel departing New Bedford Harbor collided with a Hurricane Barrier gate Saturday morning.  A blanket of fog was reported in the area.

Fairhaven Harbormaster Tim Cox told WBSM News, the incident happened around 7 am. No one was hurt.

Cox says some of the gate's bumper boards and railings were damaged on the Fairhaven side.

He said the vessel, Kommandor Susan, sustained a dent on its port side, and as of mid-day was docked at the South Terminal.

According to the Harbormaster, the Coast Guard has been contacted and will conduct an investigation.
