Police say initially, one of the injured men told police that there was a third man onboard, and that prompted a search effort to find the missing person. The man later admitted he had lied, and there were only two people onboard.

Harbormasters in Fall River and Somerset responded, along with State Police, the Coast Guard and other agencies. The Massachusetts Environmental Police is investigating the incident.
