(New York, NY) -- The mother and brother of New York City bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami are reportedly being held in Afghanistan after being pulled off a flight to the U.S.

Rahami's father told ABC News today that his wife and one of his sons were stopped and questioned for 16 hours in Dubai.  He said both were then sent to Kabul where they were detained.

Ahmad Rahami, a 28-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen, is being held in a New Jersey hospital after being arrested following a shootout with police. He faces federal charges in the bombing that injured 31 people in Manhattan earlier this month.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
