SWANSEA — A Rehoboth teen mauled to death by dogs earlier this month has been laid to rest.

WPRI-TV reports that Ryan Hazel, 14, of Rehoboth, was privately buried following a funeral service at His Providence Church in Swansea on Saturday.

Hazel had been looking after 20 dogs at a Dighton home on May 9 when he was mauled by about four of them. The boy's body was found by a neighbor after relatives became worried that Hazel had not yet returned home .

The high school freshman regularly looked after the dogs for their owner, Scott Dunmore, a dog trainer who was in Boston at the time.

Dunmore is cooperating with police in the investigation.

The four dogs are under quarantine.

Dunmore may face a dangerousness hearing.
