The New Bedford Parks and Recreation Department is stepping up its game this summer, sponsoring a series of "Reggae Nights" at West Beach in the South End. The four Reggae Nights will run from May through August and will be free to the public. The series kicks off Sunday, May 26 at 3 pm. Two other musical performances at West Beach are also scheduled. It will be a busy summer in the city parks as well, with lots of daily programs for children, and special events like a Summer Winds Kite-Flying Festival in July at Fort Taber. Alexandrea Matthews and Mary Rapoza join WBSM's Jim Phillips this week on Townsquare Sunday to discuss the summer programs and plans for the future.

Townsquare Sunday with Jim Phillips can be heard each Sunday at 6 a.m. on WBSM 1420 and Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program highlighting non-profits and community organizations in the Greater New Bedford area.
