Is $366 Million dollars enough to clean up New Bedford Harbor? Buzzards Bay Coalition president Mark Rasmussen doesn't think so. The longtime activist was a guest on WBSM's Saturday Morning program, criticizing the E-P-A's plan to accept the settlement with A-V-X and bury P-C-B contaminated soil within the harbor. Rasmussen says he's surprised by that approach, given the agency's actions in other parts of the country.

Rasmussen says there are legitimate concerns about the ability of so-called "CAD cells" to contain toxic sediment, especially in a tidal environment like New Bedford Harbor. He's encouraging residents to contact elected officials and submit public comment to the E-P-A. The public comment period on the Aerovox settlement ends November 10th.
