The FBI says a Providence woman faces charges after she allegedly tossed white powder into the reception area of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Rhode Island on Wednesday, prompting a hazardous materials response from the Providence Fire Department.

Coalatta Cooper, 55, will be charged with starting a disturbance on Federal Property. As a precaution, Cooper was transported to Rhode Island hospital along with a contract security guard and two Federal Protection Service officers. Preliminary tests showed that the substance was not toxic.

The penalty for this crime is up to 30 days in prison, a fine of up to $5,000 or both. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul F. Daly.
