
Special Juneteenth WaterFire Lighting in Providence
The Providence River will be burning bright this June as the summer tradition of WaterFire continues.
This year, an additional lighting on Thursday, June 19 with a special significance will bring thousands to the Creative Capital.

Juneteenth WaterFire Lighting
“In celebration of Juneteenth and RI Pride, the Providence Tourism Council is proud to present this special Waterfire lighting to celebrate the cultural heritage and LGBTQ+ community in Providence, " said Alexis Gorriaran, Chair and Commissioner of the Providence Tourism Council.
"We welcome visitors and residents to enjoy this special night to celebrate community, connection and Pride," Gorriaran said.

Event Details
The special WaterFire lighting will feature the signature wood-filled basins, of course, as well as many activities and events on the surrounding streets in downtown Providence.
College Street will be home to a cultural resource fair with local nonprofits that support communities of color and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Locally-designed apparel and gifts will be available as well as a 50/50 raffle, live performance from Providence-born singer Alexus Lee, food fair and walking tour.
Throughout the night, visitors are welcome to visit the WaterFire tent to learn more about the organization and make a donation to keep the fires burning.
Food, art and non-profit vendors will be open on College Street at 7:30 p.m.
Fires will be lit at 8:30 p.m. and remain burning until 10:30 p.m.
