Prove It Moment for the Patriots This Weekend in Tampa Bay
Patriots Analyst Nick Coit Breaks Down Gritty Win and Big Test Ahead
While last week’s New England Patriots victory over Atlanta wasn’t the prettiest, Fun 107 Patriots analyst Nick Coit says there’s still a lot to like about how this young team is developing, especially under head coach Mike Vrabel.
A Win With Room to Grow
Coit joined The MGM Show Friday morning and noted that although the Falcons’ missed extra point played a role in the outcome, the Patriots still had to finish the game themselves.
“They got the one drive they needed,” Coit said, referring to Drake Maye’s late connection with Hunter Henry on a crucial 3rd-and-5. “Sometimes it’s not about a big touchdown. Just move the chains, run the clock, win the game. That’s football.”
Coit pointed out that Vrabel’s sideline approach is paying off. Instead of tearing down players for mistakes, he focuses on confidence and short memory. It's the ’be a goldfish’ philosophy. After Maye threw a second-half interception, cameras caught Vrabel calmly reassuring his rookie quarterback. The message is that mistakes happen, just keep moving forward.
“Clapgate” Feels Like the Old Days
This week saw accusations from Atlanta that the Patriots simulated snap claps to force a premature snap, something Coit dismissed immediately.
“It just felt like sour grapes,” he said. “If the Patriots are being accused of cheating again, that means they must be doing something right. Kinda feels like old times.”
Looking Ahead: Patriots at Tampa Bay
The Patriots now head to Tampa to face a talented Buccaneers team struggling with major injuries at key positions.
“Even with the injuries, this is a legit team,” Coit said, calling this game a true test for the Pats. Despite that, Coit is confident:
Final Score Prediction: Patriots 24, Buccaneers 21
Game-winner: Rookie kicker Andy Borregales.
“Seven straight,” Coit said. “Let’s keep this fun season going.”
