The newest canine working for Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson will soon be wearing a new protective vest, thanks to a donation from a local businessman.

Michael Panagakos of Panagakos Development donated $1,000 for the vest to be worn by canine Bob, who recently completed 16 weeks of training along with his handler, Deputy Joao Santos.

Sheriff Hodgson says Bob is a two year old German Shepard, but don't be fooled by his low-key name.

"Names can be deceiving. I don't think anyone would want to wear that bite-suit during training, never mind being pursued by Bob in a situation where he's trying to track the bad guys." said Hodgson.

The vest is coming from a non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K9's, which has provided more than 1,800 protective vests to police dogs in 49 states. Delivery is expected in eight to ten weeks.
