Presentation On Whaling Art History Book July 20 At Westport Free Public Library
On Thursday, July 20, at 7 p.m., the Westport Free Public Library will host a special presentation on a whaling art history book.

Author Michael Dyer will be there to present his book, "O’er the Wide and Tractless Sea: Original Art of the Yankee Whale Hunt," which will be available this month.
"Dyer is senior maritime Historian at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. He was the inaugural U.S.A. Gallery Fellow at the Australia National Maritime Museum in 2008, and a 38th Voyager on board the Charles W. Morgan in 2014."
On July 21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the New Bedford Whaling Museum will launch Dyer’s book. "The author will sign copies and speak about the development and creation of the project. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP at whalingmuseum.org or by calling (508) 997-0046."
More than 327 illustrations of whaling scenes, scrimshaw, prints, and paintings are illustrated in the book. It is available for pre-purchase at the museum’s store, The White Whale.
