If you are looking for a fun time Thursday night, downtown New Bedford might be a wonderful place to be. Music, dancing, a block party and much more are all part of the free AHA! Night on June 11.

As she does every month, AHA! Executive Director Kim Goddard stopped by Townsquare Sunday to outline the "Pride Night" schedule, which she described as one of the most well-attended AHA! Nights of the year.

"It's a night to celebrate New Bedford, Pride, and being in community," Goddard said.

What Is Happening at the William Street Block Party?

"The fun starts on upper William Street at 5 p.m., where a block party will happen featuring more than 30 craft vendors and community partners," Goddard said. "There is also a mocktail bar, food trucks, aerial artists, a family fun area, a puppet theater and a DJ."

Drag Shows, Dancing, and Live Music Schedule

At the nearby Steeple Playhouse, you can take in a Drag Show featuring Queens of the South Coast, followed by dancing. Gallery X will feature art exhibits and performances as well.

"Pride Night has really blossomed into something really special," Goddard said. "It's where families, everyone, comes and enjoys being together and out in the community. It's become a real favorite."

Special Museum Exhibits and Contradance Times

There is a lot of activity elsewhere downtown. The New Bedford Whaling Museum is hosting a Contradance with Pride at 6 p.m. The museum is partnering with EPIC Southcoast to offer this event under the whale bones in the Jacobs Family Gallery.

"This will be open to all ages, all backgrounds, all identities and experience levels," Goddard said. "It's just a chance to enjoy an evening of music and movement and community."

Live Music and a Film Screening

Live jazz music will be happening on Centre Street at the Fiber Optic Loading Dock. The Dirty Martinis will perform three sets at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

The New Bedford Art Museum will screen the movie Peter Hujar's Day at 8 p.m., which offers a glimpse into New York's downtown art scene and the life of an uncompromising artist.
