The Providence Performing Arts Center has been entertaining audiences for generations. The local landmark first opened its doors as the Loew's Movie Palace on October 6, 1928 and was quickly nicknamed "The Jewel of Weybosset Street."

Though the building saw hardships at times due to a decline in patrons and even damage from hurricanes, a resurgence in the 1970s brought life back to the building and a new name was given: the Ocean State Performing Arts Center.

Then, in 1982, the building was named what we know it to be now: Providence Performing Arts Center.

Over the years many shows and famous faces have graced the stage at PPAC. Hamilton, Wicked, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera and hundreds more have made stops in Providence.

Today, the PPAC announced the lineup for the '25-'26 season.
