Polito Backs Baker on Fisherman’s Story

Karyn Polito , the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor made a stop on the Southcoast Thursday, talking up the Baker-Polito ticket prior to election day.

Speaking on WBSM's mid-day magazine, Polito discussed the emotional story told by Charlie Baker at a recent debate, about a meeting on the docks with a New Bedford fisherman....

News organizations have yet to locate the fishermen to corroborate the story. Baker's staff said late Thursday, its possible the fisherman in Baker's story did not live in New Bedford, and that Baker may have been mistaken about some details.

But campaign spokesman Jim Conroy told the Standard Times,  Baker vividly remembers the conversation taking place in New Bedford in 2009, during Baker's first run for Governor.

Polito is a former State Representative from Shrewsbury. She served in the legislature for ten years before running for Treasurer in 2010.

She announced her candidacy for Lt. Governor in Dec. 2013.
