Police Arrest Suspect In Attempted Store Robbery

New Bedford Police arrest a suspect in an attempted robbery Friday in the West End. 

Det. Capt. Steve Vicente tells WBSM  News, a man entered the Quick Pic Variety Store at 452 Cottage Street Friday morning, grabbed the clerk and demanded money. 

The clerk however decided to fight back.  He grabbed a baseball bat and began wrestling with the robber. 

The man broke free and ran from the store, with the clerk in pusuit.  The man ran to a house on Willis Street where he was later arrested by Police. 

25 year old Rashid Hazzard is charged with unarmed assault with intent to rob, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
