A suspect has been taken into custody after a state police trooper was dragged by a pickup truck fleeing the scene of a traffic stop in Taunton.

Around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday a trooper approached a 2019 Dodge Ram with New York plates parked at a Mobil gas station on Route 140 and was taking enforcement action when the suspect suddenly drove off and pulled the trooper a short distance, Massachusetts State Police said.

The trooper was able to disengage from the vehicle, was not badly injured, and finished working his shift while assisting in the search for the fugitive.

Massachusetts State Police announced on Twitter today that their Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and Gang Unit apprehended the suspect, a 32-year-old man from Dorchester. His name was not immediately released.
