PLYMOUTH (WBSM) — A Plymouth woman has been arrested after she allegedly passed a school bus while it was picking up a child, nearly striking the 10-year-old boy in the process.

Plymouth Police Chief Dana Flynn announced today that Brenda Mello, 59, of Plymouth had been arrested and will face multiple charges in relation to the incident.

On Friday, November 22 at approximately 8:45 a.m., the department received a report of a motor vehicle that had used the caller’s driveway to pass a school bus that had its red lights activated.

The caller, identified by the media as Alicia Tallent, shared the video on her Facebook page and with local media outlets.

“(It) clearly shows a white SUV using their driveway to pass the lawfully stopped school bus while it was picking up students,” Flynn said. “Further review of the video showed the SUV nearly striking the caller’s 10-year-old son.”

The investigation led police to arrest Mello earlier today. She faces charges of failure to stop for a school bus, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon.

Mello is expected to be arraigned today in Plymouth District Court.
