Only days after Plymouth Rock at Pilgrim Memorial State Park was defaced with red paint and graffiti, it appears that vandals have targeted the town’s 9/11 memorial.

Over the weekend, a statue of a police officer was knocked down, and the statue's head was knocked off. Two nearby light posts were knocked down. A nearby statue of a firefighter was not vandalized.

On February 16, vandals targeted Plymouth Rock and other memorials to the 1620 Pilgrims' landing in the historic town. It's not known if the two vandalism incidents are related.

The September 11 memorial, created in 2004, was privately funded by a local businessman who also donated the land to the town.

The vandalism came as Plymouth readies to celebrate the event's 400th anniversary.
