Several major news organizations are now reporting that there is "increasing confidence" that the COVID-19 coronavirus that is responsible for some 138,000 deaths worldwide, including nearly 31,000 here in the U.S., was not the result of someone consuming a contaminated bat from a wet market in Wuhan, China as first reported.

Bret Baier of Fox News reported on Wednesday night that the virus appears to have originated in a lab in China "not as a bioweapon but as part of China's attempt to demonstrate that its efforts to identify and combat viruses are equal to or greater than the capabilities of the United States." Baier's sources also say that the World Health Organization helped China to cover its tracks "from the beginning."

The Washington Post cites sources that confirm Baier's reporting on the matter.

If these reports are confirmed then President Trump was obviously correct to suspend U.S. funding to WHO while an investigation into the organization is conducted. Unfortunately, the Democrat leadership and many in the media were too quick to condemn Trump's decision as "irresponsible" and "irrational."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi charged on Wednesday that Trump's actions were "dangerous" and "illegal" and that she would file legislation that would block Trump from withholding funding from WHO. "This is another case, as I have said, of the president's ineffective response, that a weak person, a poor leader, takes no responsibility, blames others," Pelosi said. Of course, the implied message is that Trump is responsible for the virus and not China.

There continues to be a pattern here of the Democrats and the national news media putting a political agenda ahead of the best interest of the American people. In this case, tens of thousands of Americans have died, the economy is in tatters and the movements of American citizens are severely restricted due to this raging virus – and Pelosi and the Democrats defend China and WHO rather than present a united American front on behalf of our nation.

In addition to all of that, they are bocking the administration's latest effort to provide stimulus money to small business owners and the American people for purely political reasons.

Words cannot begin to describe just how repulsive these people are. There is something wrong with them that goes deeper than just an irrational hatred of President Trump as they obviously care more about their power than they care about you and me.

Oh, and by the way, it appears as though Trump was right again.
