New Bedford's Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau has confiscated 32 illegal handguns during the past year, and arrested 29 people who were unlawfully in possession of those weapons.

The latest seizure of an illegal weapon happened Thursday night when Detectives assigned to the OCIB carried out a search warrant at 90 Hemlock St. in the South End.

The female occupant, 25 year old Rany Pimental was taken into custody as she left the apartment.

Police found two firearms.  A Taurus 357 revolver and a Luger 9 milimeter Tech 9 was found underneath a bed.  Also recovered were 15 rounds of ammunition.

Pimental does not have a permit to carry firearms.

Police say the Tech-9 was believed stolen from a resident of Dartmouth, while the Taurus is in the process of being traced.

Pimental was arraigned Friday in New Bedford District Court.
