One Arrest in New Bedford Home Invasion, More Suspects Sought
NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police have arrested a city man in connection to an armed home invasion Thursday.
Police say 22-year-old Matthew Torres of Summer Street was arrested several blocks away from the scene of the crime at 58 North Street early Thursday afternoon.
The 29-year-old victim claimed that Torres and three other men broke into his apartment and hit him in the face with what appeared to be a pipe or a broomstick. The victim suffered a cut to the forehead and was treated for the minor injury at St. Luke's Hospital.
Torres is charged with home invasion and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
