OCIB Detectives Smash Pot-Selling Operation
Member's of New Bedford's Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau have smashed a marijuana growing operation.
The investigation led police to the 2nd and 3rd floor apartments at 608 Summer Street.
Detectives carried out a search warrant Wednesday night, arresting two suspects and finding in the second floor apartment, 39 marijuana plants, a 22 caliber Ruger rifle loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, along with another 26 rounds of ammunition, and six bags totaling 2 1/2 lbs. of pot.
On the third floor, police recovered 7 ounces of marijuana, plus a nine millimeter Glock firearm, ammunition, two ammo feeding devices and $349 in cash.
Arrested was 38 year old Jose Irizarry and 34 year old Michael Santos, occupants of the apartments. Both are scheduled to be arraigned on 14 narcotics and firearms charges,
