Here's some final thoughts on the game:

Flowers and Johnson Look Strong on D-Line- Defensive ends Rufus Johnson and Trey Flowers impressed tonight as they both battle to snag roster spots before the final 53-man squad is announced. Both set the edge nicely and made plays when given the opportunity. Johnson finished the night with four tackles. Flowers also swatted a pass late in the game and nearly came down with an interception and added five tackles including one for a loss.

Receiving Options Make Last Effort To Snag Spots- Chris Harper, who has put together a strong preseason and is on the roster bubble, made two nice catches in the fourth quarter for 27 yards. Newly acquired receiver/punt returner Jalen Saunders made three catches for 16 yards and returned five punts for an average of five yards. Asante Cleveland , who is fighting for a spot on the roster as a tight end, also had a good night making four catches for 38 yards.

Blount Plays Well- Projected starting running back LeGarrette Blount, who will miss the season opener due to a suspension for a pot bust prior to last season, got a healthy dose of action in tonight's final tune up and played well. He rushed 10 times for 24 yards and continually dodged would-be tacklers as the line didn't offer much support. He also made a splash in the passing game as he snagged four passes for 54 yards.

Ryan Steps up among Defensive Backfield Options- Backup cornerback option saw a lot of action tonight and played very well, making 10 total tackles including a sack. Other potential options in the defensive backfield that saw a lot of time on the field were Robert McClain, Tavon Wilson, Nate Ebner and Dax Swanson. McClain made 6 tackles and committed a penalty, while Wilson made five tackles, Both Ebner and Swanson had four tackles on the night. It will be interesting to see who out of that group cracks the roster and who gets sent packing.

Lindley is Pedestrian in Audition- Third string QB Ryan Lindley finished the game 22-45 for 253 yards. He also threw one interception on a ball that was deflected up into the air and fumbled as the Pats tried to march down the field at the end of the game.

Gostkowski Stays Perfect On Night- Kicker Stephen Gostkowski added a third field goal in the second half to finish the night 3-3 and accounted for all of the Patriots' scoring.
