SouthCoast Duo Fires Up New Bedford With Wicked Hot Dog Cart
Two friends with a love for flavor and hometown pride have launched a new hot dog experience in the heart of New Bedford, and it’s wicked tasty.
The Wicked Glizzy is the brainchild of Mason-Vincent Dischler-Bessette and Jeffrey DaSilva, a duo who wanted to serve up something simple, nostalgic, and full of personality. And what better way than with a cart full of creatively named hot dogs?
“‘Wicked’ has always felt like home,” Dischler-Bessette said. “It’s such a Massachusetts word, and iconic to the area. We grew up hearing it, saying it, and living it , so we had to show it some love.”
Late-Night Glizzies and Beach Day Bites
The concept was born from a craving for something fun, fast, and flavorful. Whether it’s late-night munchies in the downtown bar scene or a beachside snack on a sunny afternoon, Wicked Glizzy has the SouthCoast covered.
“We keep it simple,” he said. “We wanted something you could grab on a walk or right before heading to tan.”
The Menu: Loud Names, Bigger Flavors
With items like Double Trouble and Ooey Gooey, the names are as bold as the bites.
“Double Trouble has almost three ounces of chili and a heap of cheese. It’s messy, so you'll need napkins, good luck,” Dischler-Bessette joked. “Ooey Gooey? That first bite will make you say ‘OOOO’ without fail.”
Even their “Plain” dog wittily named “Nothing But Air”, gets the same creative love.
The wildest custom request to date? Cheese, ketchup, mustard, and French’s onion straws. “It actually worked,” he admitted with a laugh.
Affordable Eats That Hit the Spot
One of the Wicked Glizzy’s biggest draws is the price. Two dogs, chips, and a soda for $8? Practically unheard of in 2025.
“We kept it low so even a teen with five bucks can grab a dog and a soda,” he said.
Their most popular dog so far? The cheesy Ooey Gooey, oddly topped with ketchup by many customers. The sleeper hit, though, is the Double Trouble, which also happens to be the owners' favorite.
Rooted in New Bedford, Eyeing the Region
While they’re proud to keep it local, the Wicked Glizzy team has bigger dreams. “We’d love to hit food truck festivals all over New England,” they said.
Expansion may be on the horizon. “Right now, we’re just two guys with one cart,” they said, “but we’re experimenting with new dogs such as a kraut-and-mustard option and a good Coney Island sauce. Quality sauce is hard to find!”
And for dog lovers, they’re even rolling out a “pup cup”: whipped cream in a cup with a hot dog straw, made just for your four-legged friend.
So whether you’re a late-night bar-hopper, a beach day regular, or just love a good glizzy pun, The Wicked Glizzy is ready to serve.
