The New Bedford Public Schools released a survey this week seeking feedback from the community regarding the state of the city's schools.

Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin told WBSM's Phil Paleologos that there will be surveys for parents with children in all grade levels along with surveys for those who don't have children in the school.

"The information we're garnering will be specific not only to stakeholder groups but also allow for people to express themselves regarding needs that are most relevant to them," says Durkin.

Dr. Durkin also says she would like to see an increase in the number of people who take the survey.

"Last year we had about 900 people participate," says Durkin "we do have 13,000 children...so we're looking for at least an increase of 100 more surveys to at least 1,000 and I'm hoping we break that record.

All surveys are completely anonymous, according to Dr. Durkin.

The survey can be found online at the school's website and paper copies are also available at schools across the district.

Surveys must be completed by May 15th.
