New Bedford Police Lt. Takes Out-of-City Job

A New Bedford Police Leiutenant has been significantly promoted, but not within the city's department.
Lt. Jeff Silva has accepted an offer from the town of Westwood to become the new Chief of Police. Silva will assume the role of Chief later this month, May 28, with a formal ceremony being held in June.
Silva has served in several capacities during his tenure with the New Bedford Police Department. He served as the department's Public Information Officer until 2007, when he was reassigned to the Major Crimes division.
