New Bedford Police Investigating Reported Armed Robbery Attempt

NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police are investigating a report of an attempted armed robbery in the city Wednesday morning.

Police responded to Sam's Mobil gas station at 367 Ashley Boulevard at around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday. Witnesses told police the suspect entered the store and showed what appeared to be a knife, but fled the store without taking anything.

No injuries were reported.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect, only identifying him as a male.

The robbery attempt is under investigation.
