A New Bedford man will be charged with motor vehicle homicide in connection with a fatal Tuesday afternoon crash in Brockton that took the life of a West Bridgewater woman.

Prosecutors allege that a black Acura TX operated by John Medeiros, 30, blew through a red light at a high rate of speed and struck a pickup truck and a vehicle being driven by 54-year-old Kimberly Shirosky. Shirosky was killed as a result of the crash.

Medeiros faces charges of motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, speeding, and a marked lanes violation, according to the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz.

Photos from the Brockton Enterprise show Medeiros, with a visibly bloodied face, being taken into custody near the crash site at the intersection of Belmont and Pearl streets. He remained hospitalized at Boston Medical Center on Wednesday and prosecutors said it was not immediately clear when he would be arraigned on the charges.

The driver of the pickup truck declined medical treatment, the DA's office said.

There were two fatal crashes in Brockton on Tuesday. Earlier in the day a 72-year-old pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Pleasant Street. That crash remains under investigation.
