New Bedford High Student Brings Ammo to School, Police Find Shotgun at Home
A 17-year-old student at New Bedford High School is arrested after police find him in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
Detective Captain Steven Vicente says six shotgun shells were found on the juvenile student during a school administration search Thursday morning.
Administrators notified police, who after receiving permission from the student's parents, searched the North End home of the teenager. During the search, police found a sawed-off shotgun, 17 additional shotgun shells, and five rounds of .22 caliber ammo in the young man's bedroom that he shares with a teenage brother.
The juvenile has been arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, unlawful possession of ammunition, and improperly storing a shotgun near a minor.
