New Bedford Firefighters Endorse Rep. Keating

The New Bedford Firefighters Union joined other state and national police and firefighter organizations on Monday, in endorsing U.S. Rep. William Keating for the 9th Congressional District seat.

Keating and D-A Sam Sutter are vying for the Democratic nomination in the Sept. 6 primary. In remarks at Homer's Wharf in New Bedford, Keating said he was humbled by the union's support, and will continue to push in Congress on behalf of firefighters....

The Professional Firefighters of Mass. And the Mass. Coalition of Police also announced their support for Keating. Representatives from the New Bedford Police Union were not present. Officials said they were an independent union , not affiliated with any statewide organization.
