New Bedford, Dartmouth and Fall River have all announced parking bans in advance of today’s expected snow.

New Bedford’s ban begins at 4 p.m. today and will run for 48 hours, unless lifted sooner or further extended by city officials. During those hours, parking is permitted on the north side of all streets going east and west, and is permitted on the east side of all streets going north and south. The permitted side of the street is typically the side opposite of the fire hydrants. More details on New Bedford’s ban are listed below.

In Fall River, the parking ban began at 9 a.m. this morning and will be in effect until further notice. Parking is only allowed on the north side of city streets that run east and west and on the west side of streets that run north and south. Parking is allowed, unless posted, on both sides of any street that is divided by a traffic median.

Dartmouth’s parking ban begins at 6 p.m. tonight and will run until 12 a.m. Saturday. There is no parking allowed on the hydrant side of a street; if there is no hydrant, residents are asked to park on the side of the street with even-numbered houses.

Fairhaven has a standing parking ban throughout the winter months.

ABC6 Storm Tracker meteorologist Chelsea Priest says snow will move into the area in the afternoon hours today, lightly falling through the afternoon, evening and overnight hours. It is also expected to fall throughout the day Friday and perhaps even into Friday night. During that time, four to eight inches can be expected across the SouthCoast. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon today until 7 p.m. Friday.
