FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — A New Bedford man was arrested by Fairhaven Police and charged with multiple drug violations after police seized a significant amount of cocaine, fentanyl and cash.

Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel M. Dorgan said on Wednesday, October 15, detectives in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration and New Bedford Police executed multiple search warrants following a lengthy investigation into drug-related activity.

Seized Drugs and Cash

As a result, detectives seized about 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, 11 grams of fentanyl, 265 suspected pressed fentanyl pills and $11,000 in cash. They arrested Calixto Smith, 28, of New Bedford in connection and charged him with trafficking in 200 grams or more of cocaine, trafficking in 10 grams or more of fentanyl, distribution of a Class B drug, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

He was scheduled to be arraigned today in New Bedford District Court.
