A New Bedford drug dealer has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says 25-year-old Jeremiah Cowart pleaded guilty last week in Superior Court to a two-count indictment charging him with possession with intent to distribute heroin - subsequent offense and possession with intent to distribute cocaine - subsequent offense.

The charges stem from a traffic stop in New Bedford in 2015 where police found 41 bags of heroin and eight bags of crack-cocaine on Cowart's person. Cowart will serve up to four years in state prison.

He has previously been convicted on similar charges in New Bedford District Court and Bristol County Superior Court.
