If the weather wasn't deterring you from visiting a New Bedford beach today, the City's Health Department sure will.

The Health Department says that due to the significant rainfall, bacteria levels at East Beach, West Beach, and the beach in Fort Taber Park are sure to be elevated beyond acceptable levels. The beaches are closed for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Health Department says the waters at those beaches are tested daily, and once the levels fall within the normal range, the beaches will be re-opened.
