More Troops Are Headed To Iraq
President Obama is ordering more military personnel to Iraq.
The White House announced that 350 additional troops will be deployed to protect American diplomats at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the move reinforces the President's commitment to do whatever is required to ensure the security of U.S. personnel and facilities around the world.
Earnest said today's request will also allow some troops already deployed to leave Iraq.
The Pentagon said the move will bring the total number of military personnel providing diplomatic security in Iraq to about 820.
