Former NFL star and current first-degree murder suspect Aaron Hernandez says he's "a great dude." 

In a jailhouse letter obtained by "RadarOnline" the former New England Patriot writes to a guy who calls himself Collin.  He writes that "God has a plan" and encourages his pen pal to stay away from all the negative people. 

Hernandez is jailed without bond in connection with the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.  Lloyd's bullet-riddled corpse was discovered near Hernandez's home in June.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
