The privately owned Smith-Robinson landfill off Old Fall River Road in Dartmouth is back in the news.

State Senator Mark Montigny has written the Mass. Department of Environmental Project, asking them to halt plans to truck contaminated soil from Boston to Dartmouth, in order to cap the Smith-Robinson landfill.

Montigny says town residents oppose the project, and D-E-P  has failed to properly oversee the landfill.

Montigny says he's concerned that what's dumped at the Dartmouth landfill could find its way into underground water supplies.

The senator has asked D-E-P for copies of documents related to the landfill capping plan.

He's also suggesting more meetings with residents of Dartmouth , and a meeting with him and other lawmakers, so according to Montigny, he can fully express his opposition and concerns.
