State Senator Mark Montigny of New Bedford belives it's time for the Legislature and Governor to take a close look at all expenses in the University of Massachusetts System.

The Mass. Senate debates its version of the state budget starting Wednesday, but so far the Senate version calls for $23 million less than the House budget for UMass.

UMass Student Trustees sent a letter to Senators this week, asking that they support more funding for the UMass System.
