Governor Charlie Baker has only served one full day in office, but is already working to cut the state's budget deficit that could amount to over $500 million.

Baker ordered an immediate hiring freeze across state government Friday. He also ordered cabinet secretaries to begin program-by-program reviews of all state agencies.

State Rep. Mark Montigny supports Baker's steps to look at how the state is spending its money.

Montigny is confident the new governor's plans to reduce the budget deficit will take most of the burden off of tax payers and hopes it can lead to reforms on Beacon Hill.
