Mayor Jon Mitchell testified in Boston Tuesday before a legislative committee looking at energy issues.

Speaking on his weekly radio program on WBSM, the Mayor said he opposes legislation that would introduce large quantities of Canadian hydropower into the energy market.

The Mayor believes such a move would stifle the offshore wind industry, which will likely be part of New Bedford's future......

Joining the Mayor in testifying against the bill were State Rep. Antonio Cabral and State Senator Mark Montigny.

Mitchell says developing the offshore wind industry in New Bedford will create hundreds of much-needed jobs.
