Mayor Jon Mitchell says after being at the job of Mayor for almost a year and a half, he thinks the mayoral term in New Bedford should be four years, instead of two.

Speaking on his weekly radio program on WBSM, the Mayor described the two year term as "archaic'.....

Mitchell says he's prepared to serve two year terms for as long as the voters keep him in office, or until he decides to step aside.

But he beleives the term for Mayor should be extended to four years, perhaps for the next mayor that takes over.  Mitchell says he expects to make an announcement about his own future at the "appropriate time."
