Mitchell Defends School Committee Letter

Mayor Jon Mitchell says the operational and policy issues facing the New Bedford School Committee are not the business of the City Council.

The School Committee wrote the Council a letter this week, asking Councilors to respect the school board's boundaries.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, the Mayor said if the Council is looking for answers about constituent concerns, they can call the Superintendent....

The School Committee's letter apparently will not deter City Councilor Linda Morad.

She told WBSM News this week, she will invite school officials to appear before the Council's Finance Committee to answer questions.
