Longtime fans of the Miller's Homeport in Dartmouth were caught off guard by the business' sudden closing this past week.

Miller's Homeport on Cove Road in South Dartmouth has been a popular local spot for years.  Once reviewed as  "A concrete bunker you would probably never set foot in. But do!" Miller's was known for having an atmosphere most surprising based on how it looks from the outside.

But over the weekend, the spot was suddenly closed, prompting a lot of Facebook inquiries about what's going on.

The owners of the Black Whale in New Bedford confirmed to Fun107 staff that they did recently purchase the business and are making minor renovations to the building. The business, which will be named the Thirsty Whale, will re-open mid to late fall and feature a pub-style, Portuguese-slanted menu. The full menu will be finalized near opening.

Most patrons remember the original Miller's as being everyone's favorite neighborhood dive bar with stellar filet mignon, karaoke and plenty of TVs for watching football.
