A Remarkable Run Of Success

A SouthCoast athlete is continuing to build an incredible legacy on the lanes.

Nineteen year old Michael Hogan of Mattapoisett has won his fifth consecutive Massachusetts Special Olympics state bowling championship, adding yet another milestone to an already impressive career. The latest victory took place at the state tournament in Auburn, where Hogan delivered a dominant performance.

What It Takes To Stay On Top

Hogan finished the competition with a 695 series, averaging an outstanding 232 across three strings. Even more impressive, he continues to improve despite limited competition at his level.

With few opponents able to match his skill level, Hogan often pushes himself by competing against his own previous performances. That self driven mindset has helped him stay at the top of the pack year after year.

A Growing Medal Collection

This latest win marks Hogan’s 12th gold medal across regional, qualifying, and state competitions. Of those, five have come at the state level, all in consecutive years since 2022.

More Than Just A Bowler

While bowling is his signature sport, Hogan’s athletic ability extends beyond the lanes. He has also found success in Unified basketball, helping Old Rochester to multiple perfect seasons and an impressive winning streak.

He has even tried out for a New England Revolution affiliated soccer program, continuing to expand his athletic resume.

Helping The Next Generation

Hogan has also embraced a leadership role, working with younger athletes during practices to help them develop their skills. From passing and shooting to overall game awareness, he tells Fun 107 that he enjoys sharing what he has learned.

What Comes Next

After completing his time in the transitional program at Old Rochester Regional High School, Hogan is preparing to begin adult day services at Nemasket Group in Mattapoisett this summer.

As for bowling, he is already looking ahead to next year, where he hopes to capture his sixth straight state title. Talk about dominance!
