Massachusetts residents, like most Americans, are squeezing every penny until Abe Lincoln's eyes bulge, especially when it comes to gassing up their vehicles.

It recently cost me nearly $50 to fill up my car, and that was when a gallon of regular unleaded gas was still $3.99. It is considerably higher now.

As high as gas prices are these days, they are still shy of the record-high prices Massachusetts motorists paid in 2022.

Global Tensions Continue Affecting Fuel Costs

Gas prices are through the roof because of instability in the world at the moment, most notably the U.S. war with Iran, but things could change rapidly as the war winds down.

C-SPAN reported that President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that high gas prices, the result of high oil prices, are a "very small price to pay for getting rid of a nuclear weapon from people who are really mentally deranged."

Perhaps, but I will be glad when those prices begin to descend rapidly, as the administration says they soon will.
