Mondays Were the Most Crime-Filled Day in Massachusetts in 2024
Who'd have thought it? Recent crime statistics indicate Monday was the busiest day of the week for criminals in Massachusetts last year. Not Friday. Not Saturday. Monday.
Massachusetts Sees Statewide Drop in Crime
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security released a preliminary report on 2024 crime data this month, indicating that overall crime was down pretty much across the board.

"This new data is encouraging and reflects the important work that law enforcement and community partners do day in and day out to keep the people of Massachusetts safe," Governor Maura Healey said in a statement.
Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy also called the data "encouraging."
"While this 2024 data offers an encouraging snapshot-in-time, it also reinforces the importance of staying focused and coordinated in our efforts to reduce crime."
Mondays Lead the Week in Reported Crimes
After evaluating the report, State House News Service reported, "Mondays saw more criminal incidents than any other day of the week in 2024, with 35,338 crimes reported to have taken place on Mondays. Fridays were a close second with 35,251 incidents reported." I find that amazing.
"Sundays were the least active by number of incidents with 28,148 incidents reported," according to SHNS.

How the Crime Data Was Collected
The information collected by the Commonwealth is a compilation of statistics submitted by local police departments throughout the state. All of the data is submitted to the FBI.
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security stated, "The FBI typically releases the official 2024 national crime statistics audited in September."
