Massachusetts Loses 182,000 Residents as Concerns Grow
Massachusetts is facing "financial collapse," according to Breitbart's Warner Todd Huston. It's not the first dire report we've heard about the state of our state in recent months, and I suspect that it won't be the last.
It's no wonder Democrat Governor Maura Healey is campaigning for re-election by taking on the Trump Administration rather than her three Republican opponents.
In a March 26, 2026, report, "Death Spiral: Massachusetts Plan to Replace Taxpayers With Migrants Collapses," Huston wrote, "Politicians raise taxes on remaining citizens as taxpayers flee the state on top of the cratering of the inflow of poor migrants."

Two recent studies by the Pioneer Institute lay out the case for concern among those of us who have not fled to friendlier climates.
What the Data Shows About Population Loss
A February 12, 2026, report from the Pioneer Institute indicates that Massachusetts lost some 182,000 residents through out-migration between April 2022 and July 2025, with many of those leaving aged 26 to 34.
"While a recent surge in international immigration temporarily boosted labor force numbers, new research from Pioneer Institute shows that underlying demographic, workforce, and economic challenges continue to threaten the Commonwealth's long-term competitiveness," the report states.
"Domestic out-migration, an aging population, declining birth rates, and shifting federal immigration policy are converging to create serious economic headwinds for the state," according to the report.
Billions Lost as Residents Leave
In a follow-up report, the Pioneer Institute said, "Since 2020, Massachusetts has lost $14.8 billion in adjusted gross income due to domestic out-migration."
Huston wrote, "The Democrats' plan to replace taxpayers with migrants is causing a perfect storm to the state." In addition, Huston said the Millionaires' Tax "has caused the outgoing of citizens to skyrocket."
