Inside ‘Mayor Pete’s’ High-Dollar Campaign Stop at a Historic Cape Cod Inn
He's known simply as "Mayor Pete" to enthusiasts, many of whom live here in Massachusetts and might get a chance to see their hero during a stop in the Bay State next month.
That is, if they can afford to.
Pete Buttigieg, the Biden Administration Transportation Secretary and former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, will participate in a fundraiser for Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who faces re-election this fall.
High-Dollar Tickets in Provincetown
The event, hosted by Provincetown's Gifford House Inn, is offering tickets for the August 2 "extra special event" from $100 to $2,500 each, with some of the lower-priced tickets already sold out, according to the State House News Service's Ella Adams.
The Gifford House Inn Facebook page promises "Two powerhouse voices. One incredible afternoon."
Buttigieg, who received a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University, finished fifth in the Massachusetts Democratic presidential primary election in 2020, with 37,172 votes (2.7 percent), behind winner Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Massachusetts Warming Up to "Mayor Pete"
A recent Suffolk University poll showed Massachusetts voters may have warmed up to Pete. Pollsters asked, "Looking ahead to 2028, which potential Democratic candidate excites you most?"
Buttigieg finished on top with 23.4 percent of the vote, followed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom with 17.4 percent. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York finished third with 14 percent.

Mayor Pete has stumped through New Hampshire several times in recent months on behalf of candidates and is heading to P-Town on Healey's behalf.
Looking Ahead: A Potential 2028 National Ticket?
Anyone thinking what I'm thinking? Should Healey win re-election on November 3, perhaps we could be looking at a Buttigieg/Healey ticket in 2028.
