Massachusetts native Hillary B. Smith received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1994 for her portrayal of Nora Gannon Buchanon (Bo's squeeze) on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live and was nominated again in 2000.

Smith appeared on One Life to Live from 1992 until the show ended in 2012.

Hillary Bailey was born on May 25, 1957, in Boston, Massachusetts, but was raised in Palm Beach, Florida.

SoapCentral.com says, "At age 14 she returned to Massachusetts, where she was born, to attend boarding school." Smith was enrolled at the Dana Hall School, an independent boarding and day school for girls in grades 5-12 in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

While attending the Dana Hall School, SoapCentral.com says Smith "worked with a geneticist at the New England Medical Center."

The site says Smith, "Attended Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where she headed the drama club, and transferred to Sarah Lawrence College (New York) because it had a masters program in genetics as well as theater."

While a senior at Sarah Lawrence College, Smith began performing in off-Broadway and Broadway productions including The Heidi Chronicles.

Smith has appeared in other soaps, including The Doctors, As The World Turns, General Hospital, and the NBC sitcom Something Wilder.

Smith has appeared in films including Love Potion #9 with Sandra Bullock and Maid in Manhattan starring Jennifer Lopez.

Smith and her husband Phillip Webster Smith III were married in 1983. They have two children.

SoapCentral.com revealed in a 2009 interview that Smith is into tennis and ballroom dancing, among other things.
